benefits of Active Release technique

Active Release Technique (ART) is a unique myofascial technique that treats problems affecting fascia, connective tissue, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. ART treatment focuses on applying gentle pressure to soft tissues that are dysfunctional while moving the body to provide a stretch. ART offers a natural way to free fascia, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves from scar tissue and adhesions while improving motion and decreasing pain.

Dr. Brett Barringer is an experienced Certified ART provider with almost 20 years experience treating with ART. He helps patients who experience headaches, sciatica, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, and endless other soft tissue, nerve, and joint conditions.

Who Can Benefit from Active Release Technique?

If you suffer from acute or chronic numbness, tingling, weakness, soreness, pain, stiffness, discomfort, or headaches, you may be experiencing a condition that could benefit from ART. Injuries and chronic problems like bad posture or poorly designed workstations can cause injuries that can be treated by ART. Anti-inflamitory drugs may dampen or temporarily relieve the pain, but the underlying problems causing your injury remain. Chiropractic and ART address those underlying problems.

Many conditions can be resolved quickly and many times permanently with ART. Some of the conditions treated by ART include:

Sciatica

Carpal Tunnel

Plantar Fasciitis

Back Pain

Neck Pain

Hip Pain

IT Band Syndrome

Rotator Cuff Injuries

Headaches

Tennis Elbow

I’ve seen Dr. Barringer for several injuries over the last 5 years. The first was a hip injury I developed after an ACL and medial meniscus repair. My gait, post-surgery, was affecting my hip to where it was difficult and painful to stand up after sitting. After months of dealing with hip pain that was worse than my knee pain, I was fed up. Dr. Barringer was able to correctly diagnose my injury as a soft tissue entrapment and was able to fix it within a few visits using Active Release Technique. I’ve been pain-free since! The second injury, I fell hiking and injured my shoulder. Six months later I still couldn’t lift a coffee mug off the shelf without pain. Dr. Barringer correctly diagnosed my injury as a rotator cuff strain. With his treatment, stretching, icing, and exercises at home he had me back to working out pain-free within a few weeks. Most recently, I had radiation treatment for breast cancer. Scar tissue formation, stiffness, and pain are common after radiation therapy. My oncologist told me to work on mantianing mobility to avoid scar tissue formation. Within a few visits Dr. Barringer had me feeling much better and back to normal with pain free unrestricted movement. Both Dr. Barringer and his staff are friendly and professional. I have recommended his clinic to friends and they are also pleased with their outcomes.
