Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy at Metro Chiropractic uses both radial and focused shockwave to target soft tissue and musculoskeletal conditions with precision and evidence-based care. Radial shockwave emits lower-energy pressure waves that disperse over a broader surface and are well suited for superficial conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and some myofascial trigger points; focused shockwave delivers a concentrated, higher-energy wave that penetrates deeper tissues and is often used for conditions such as chronic tendinopathies (rotator cuff, patellar), calcific tendinitis, and deeper enthesopathies. A substantial body of peer‑reviewed research supports the effectiveness of both modalities for reducing pain, promoting tissue healing, breaking down calcifications, and improving function, and they are generally considered safe when administered by trained clinicians—side effects are usually mild and transient (temporary soreness, redness, or bruising). Benefits include faster pain relief, reduced need for medications or injections, improved range of motion and function, and the potential to accelerate recovery when combined with rehabilitation.
